| Parameter | MAX485ESA | MAX485ESA | Engineering note |
|---|---|---|---|
| Absolute maximum supply voltage | 12 V | 7 V | The target has a lower absolute-maximum VCC rating. Normal operation remains 5 V +/-5%, but the reduced fault margin must be acceptable. |
FAE documentary review accepted with a reduced-fault-margin warning: both exact order codes are 8-pin SOIC/SOP half-duplex RS-485/RS-422 transceivers with one driver/receiver, 5 V +/-5% supply and 2.5 Mbps operation. Both specify 32 unit-load receivers on a bus and a fail-safe high receiver output for open inputs. The source ordering table specifies -40 to +85 C; the UMW datasheet specifies -40 to +105 C. HuluIC lists 0 to +70 C and malformed electrical fields for the UMW aggregate record, so the manufacturer datasheet controls. The UMW absolute maximum VCC is 7 V versus 12 V for the source, so field-fault tolerance must be reviewed. Document review only; not bench, reliability or production qualified.
