Azoteq (Pty) Ltd is a South African fabless semiconductor company founded in 1998 by Dr. Frederick Bruwer. Headquartered in Paarl, South Africa, the company has established global sales and support offices, including in the United States and China. Azoteq specializes in designing and developing advanced sensor interface integrated circuits for human-machine interaction and intelligent control. Its initial product line, LightSense™, delivered intelligent LED control solutions for flashlights and headlamps. The company later expanded into capacitive touch and proximity sensing with the successful ProxSense® product family. In 2013, Azoteq introduced the PowerSense™ series, offering integrated AC LED lighting driver solutions. The company’s flagship innovation is the ProxFusion® product line, the world’s first single-chip multi-sensor solution combining capacitive, inductive, Hall-effect, and infrared sensing technologies. These unique multi-sensor ICs enable sleek, reliable, and cost-effective designs for consumer electronics, wearables, automotive, and industrial applications. Azoteq holds numerous patents and is recognized as a technology leader in sensor fusion, providing best-in-class sensitivity and noise immunity. While not a volume leader in the global semiconductor market, Azoteq maintains a strong niche position through continuous innovation and a focus on intelligent sensing.
