Finisar Corporation, founded in 1988, is headquartered in Sunnyvale, California, and is a global leader in optical communications. It designs, manufactures, and sells optical transceivers, active optical cables, optical engines, and other components for data centers, enterprise networking, and telecom networks. The company pioneered many pluggable optical module technologies, including SFP, SFP+, QSFP, CFP, and CFP2 form factors, which have become industry standards.
