Intel Corporation, founded in 1968 and headquartered in Santa Clara, California, is the world's largest semiconductor chip manufacturer by revenue. The company pioneered the microprocessor with the Intel 4004 in 1971, triggering the computer and internet revolution. Intel's core business areas include client computing (PCs), data center and AI (servers), network and edge, and accelerated computing systems and graphics. Its flagship product families are the Intel Core, Pentium, and Celeron processors for consumer desktops and laptops; the Intel Xeon processors for servers and workstations; and the Intel Atom processors for embedded and IoT devices. In addition, Intel offers FPGAs through its Altera subsidiary, with the Agilex, Stratix, and Arria series, and graphics processors like the Intel Arc and Iris Xe. The company also provides memory and storage products such as Intel Optane, and networking solutions like Ethernet controllers and silicon photonics. Intel's process technology leadership, including its Intel 4 and Intel 3 nodes, and advanced packaging technologies like EMIB and Foveros, maintain its competitive edge. As a vertically integrated device manufacturer, Intel operates its own fabrication plants worldwide. The company holds a dominant share in the x86 CPU market for servers and PCs, though it faces growing competition from AMD and ARM-based designs. Intel continues to drive innovation in AI with its Gaudi AI accelerators and oneAPI software ecosystem.
