Numonyx B.V. was a semiconductor company formed on March 31, 2008, as a joint venture combining the NOR flash memory business of Intel and the NAND flash memory business of STMicroelectronics. The company was registered in the Netherlands and headquartered in Rolle, Switzerland. It specialized in non-volatile memory solutions, including NOR, NAND, and phase-change memory (PCM). Key product lines were NOR Flash for code storage, NAND Flash for data storage, multichip packages (MCP) combining memory and logic, and phase-change memory as a next-generation technology. The company also offered memory cards and software for embedded applications. At its inception, Numonyx held a strong market position in the NOR flash segment, ranking among the top suppliers globally with annual combined revenues of approximately $3.6 billion. It served diverse markets such as automotive, industrial, consumer electronics, computing, and wireless communications. In February 2010, Micron Technology announced an agreement to acquire Numonyx, and the deal closed in May 2010, integrating Numonyx's operations into Micron's portfolio. Through this acquisition, Micron further strengthened its memory product offerings and broadened its customer base. Numonyx's legacy continues through Micron's NOR flash and specialty memory products.
